This committee requires at least 9 members (51% racial/ethnic representation of clergy/elders/laity).

The duties and responsibilities of this committee are to receive and decide upon the validity of proposals based on criteria and guidelines provided by the national Self-Development of People Committee and to:

encourage and assist potential self-development groups in the preparation of their proposals;
fund validated proposals within the limits of "One Great Hour of Sharing" funds available from the committee;
educate and involve congregations i the ministry of self-development;
know and understand communities of need within the bounds of the Presbytery;
remain free of undue influence from governing bodies, committees and other agencies or individuals;
communicate with the Presbytery and with the national Self-Development of People Committee concerning its activities and actions so as to foster cooperation, understanding and on-going support;
