Preparation for Ministry

Meeting: 1^st Tuesday - 12 PM- Vineland First

This committee requires 18 members (9 clergy and 9 elders).

The duties and responsibilities of this committee include the nuturing and supervision of those who are preparing to become ministers of the word and sacrament. In accordance with the Book of Order and Presbytery By-Laws this committee will:

encourage the enlistment of inquirers;
council, guide and oversee all inquirers and candidates referred to the committee;
provide reports and make recommendations to Presbytery regarding the progress and status or change in status of inquirers and candidates assigned to the committee;
review applications and approve loans to inquirers and candidates;
inform church sessions and the Presbytery as to the committee's responsibility for a candidate that comes under the care of the Presbytery;
establish educational guidelines for inquirers and candidates;
prepare each candidate for appearance for ordination examination;
examine all clergy from other denominations who have received calls from churches in the Presbytery of West Jersey.
