People: Installation of Rev. Deborah Brincivalli as Moderator of the Presbytery and Rev. Patrick Orazi as Moderator-Elect. Debby has been appointed Moderator of the 215th General Assembly Committee on Church Orders and Ministry. John Nurnberger was thanked for his splendid leadership as moderator. Eric Johnson, member of Presbytery's Council and an elder at the Pitman Church, died on May 9 after a battle with cancer. William Boer, son of Richard and Wendy Boer had emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix and is now recovering at home.Linda Donchez, wife of Rev. Joseph Donchez, had heart surgery the beginning of May. Rev. Carolyn Gillette, co-pastor of the Pitman Church, was in an auto accident and is recovering at home. Rev. Thomas Lindsay, Pastor Emeritus of the Haddonfield Church. Rev. Lindsay resides in Raleigh, North Carolina celebrated 60 years that he has been ordained. John Wallace, of the Pitman Church, recently appointed to the NJ Supreme Court. Rev. Emanuel Nasir approved for a one year period for in his work in establishing and leading a South Asian Fellowship within the Presbytery. Rev. Kathryn Stoner-Lasala dismissed to the Presbytery of New Castle Installations/Ordinations &Mac240; Rev. Debra Cerra was installed as Pastor of Calvary Church, Riverton, May 4. &Mac240; Rev. Jen Fox installed as Pastor of the Hammonton Church, June 1 &Mac240; Mark Gaskill ordained as minister of word and sacrament June 1. Merchantville. He has accepted. A all as Pastor of the Plumville. Eight of the records were approved without exceptions and fifty-seven were approved with exceptions. Presbyterian Women: information about the activities, projects, and financial giving from May 2002 to May 2003. PW continues to be a connection between PC Churchwide, PW Synod, and women in local congregations Presbytery ACTIONS: &Mac240; Approved transfer of ownership of the Camden Fourth Presbyterian Church property at 1202-1204 Atlantic Avenue, Camden, NJ, to the Black People's Unity Movement, a not-for-profit corporation with administrative offices at 622 Cooper Street, Camden NJ, for the consideration of one dollar. &Mac240; Authorized First Church of Woodbury Heights to sell the property at 547 Fourth Street, Woodbury Heights, for the sum of $125,000. The deed will carry restriction that the church will have the right of first refusal at such time if property is sold. &Mac240; Approved the Deerfield Church request to sell its manse for $155,000; with the proceeds to be invested with restrictions on use of the funds as stipulated. &Mac240; Approved the Hunger Ministry Application of the Pitman Church for a $5,000 grant. &Mac240; Approved an administrative commission to assume original jurisdiction of the session of the First Presbyterian Church of Swedesboro, New Jersey. The moderator appointed Rev. Susan Reisinger, Rev. John Fordyce, Rev. Timothy Hines, Elder Janet Lawrence (Woodstown), Elder Samuel Henderson (Carneys Point), Elder Janet Johnston (Pitman). &Mac240; VOTED to dissolve the congregation of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Camden, and assume legal responsibility for all matters pertaining to the dissolution of the congregation. To dissolve the Administrative Commission as the Session of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and to reconstitute the commission members with additional members appointed by the moderator of the Presbytery of West Jersey to act as its representatives in matters appertaining to ministry in the East Camden area. To permit the commission to manage the income of the Frank J. Bain Fund #2 for the aforementioned purposes and for the support of property formally occupied by the Westminister congregation. A worship service on June 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. will honor the life and history of the church, witness the faithful service of the congregation and attest to God's presence in the East Camden area. &Mac240; VOTED to grant the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Gloucester City up to an additional $10,000 out of current (FY2003) budget in order to maintain the current level of service at the church to the end of this year. The Church is receiving a grant of $10,500 in 2003 Mission Pledges: Fifty-eight mission pledges have been received totaling over $609,000. Thirty-three churches increased their pledges, thirteen remain the same, and twelve decreased pledges. The decreases were greater than the increases. The 2003 mission pay-up is lagging behind last year by $30,000 Cuba Partnership Task Force: Elder Cricket Cohen who introduced those present who had been on the most recent trip to Cuba. There will be a youth trip to Cuba in August. Presbytery expressed appreciation to the Millville, Burlington, and Somerdale churches for permitting their pastors to spend time on Presbytery duties as moderators and moderators elect.
